About Us

From Tamber Bey’s modest beginnings two decades ago to its status as one of Napa Valley’s most unique wine experiences and portfolio of 15 wines, the mission statement has remained the same: To make the best wine possible every vintage without losing sight of the philosophy that great winemaking begins in the vineyard.

When Barry Waitte made the decision in 1999 to enter into the wine business, he could not have anticipated the journey this decision would take him on. He won’t hesitate to tell anyone who asks about his accomplishments that he did not do it alone. He credits his founding winemaker Thomas Rivers Brown and Tamber Bey’s stellar winemaking team that is now led by Sally Johnson Blum for putting Tamber Bey on the map as a top producer in Napa Valley.

A visit to the Tamber Bey winery is like nothing else in Napa Valley. The winery and tasting room are located at the Sundance Ranch in Calistoga, which is one of the largest horse ranches in the valley. The original barn and clubhouse were designed by renowned Napa architect Howard Backen. The wine production facility was originally a covered riding arena. Guests can taste wine in the garden courtyard of the barn, mingle with the horses and enjoy stunning views of Mount. St. Helena and the Palisades.

Everything about the property and the wine tasting experience reflects owners Barry and Jennifer Waittes' love of horses and wine.
