Bien Nacido

Santa Maria Valley

Bien Nacido—meaning “Well Born” in Spanish—was part of a 19th-century Mexican land grant. Brothers Stephen and Bob Miller planted grapevines on this stretch of California’s Central Coast in 1973. Due to its cool climate and diverse soils of sandy loam, chalk, gravelly loam, and marine loam, Bien Nacido is highly sought after for vineyard-designate bottlings. Its fruit makes wines that are intense, terroir-driven, powerful, and polished.
