Although the winery is located in Calistoga, the heart of Tamber Bey’s winegrowing is in Napa Valley’s legendary Oakville appellation. Barry and Jennifer live surrounded by vines on the 11-acre Oakville Estate property. In 2000, the 3-acre vineyard site was planted to Cabernet Sauvignon (clones 337 and 4) in a tight formation to encourage competition for nutrients. This “stressing of the vines” results in small clusters of intense fruit that are used to make our flagship Tamber Bey Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon. The vineyard is comprised of relatively shallow gravel and loam soils, and the site enjoys early morning fog and late afternoon breezes influenced by San Francisco Bay to the south.
